Description
Course Purpose:
This Fall Protection Plan Developer course is designed for individuals responsible for ensuring the safety of workers operating at heights where there is a risk of falling. Learners will gain the skills needed to develop and implement fall protection plans in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993). The course focuses on safeguarding both the learner and others working at height.
A qualified learner will be able to:
Learners must: Conduct risk assessments for worksites where tasks are performed at height.
Demonstrate knowledge of fall arrest and rescue equipment, including advanced fall arrest rescue techniques.
Develop comprehensive fall protection and fall arrest plans.
Manage the safety of personnel working at heights effectively.
To participate effectively in this course, learners must:
Be medically fit and hold a valid medical certificate confirming they are free from conditions that could affect their ability to work safely at heights, as outlined in SABS 0333:2 Annex A.
Have a basic understanding of suspension trauma and its implications for working at heights.
